Regular exercise and balanced food helps us maintain good health

Today’s fast-paced life and workplace pressures escalate stress levels, taking a toll on one’s health. We must realise that the healing power of the body decreases when under stress, leading to many complications like hypertension and poor immunity.With change in lifestyle and eating habits, health issues like hypertension, heart ailments, diabetes, cancer, liver and kidney related problems are on a rise, especially amongst men. Hepatitis cases are also on a rise. Viral hepatitis, including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, are distinct diseases that affect the liver and have different hepatitis symptoms and treatments. Other causes of hepatitis include recreational drugs and prescription medications.

Today, even youngsters are prone to many health problems. So, it’s very important to stay healthy and manage your stress levels by understanding the risk factors high cholesterol levels, stressful lifestyle, smoking, and lack of exercise following simple changes in lifestyle.

Another major health problem faced by men is of infertility.Infertility is a common yet complex problem affecting approximately 15 per cent of the couples attempting to conceive a baby. And in about 50 per cent of the cases, the problem is at least partly related to male reproductive issues. It is essential that men be assessed to pinpoint the treatable or untreatable causes.

Fortunately, with today’s hightech procedures and powerful drugs a diagnosis of infertility may simply mean the road to parenthood may be challenging, but not impossible.A fertility specialist or an urologist would be able to give options regarding diagnosing and treating male infertility. The doctor would check for possible structural and other defects in the reproductive system, hormonal deficiencies, illness or even trauma that might be impairing fertility.

Male infertility is due to low sperm production, abnormal sperm function or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. Illnesses, injuries, chronic health problems, lifestyle choices and other factors can play a role in causing male infertility.

Exercise forms the corner stone of a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise helps us maintain an ideal body weight and promotes muscular fitness with advancing age. The most convenient form of exercise is a brisk walk for 30-45 minutes on most days of the week (aim for 5-6 days per week). In addition, one can add simple bodyweight exercises like pushups, squats, and if possible, pull-ups. Weight training if done regularly under the supervision of a good coach is another great help.
Changing eating patterns can also help a lot. Incorporate soluble and insoluble fibre in your diet, have 2-3 servings of raw fruits daily in your diet. Preferably have more green leafy or coloured vegetables daily. Add oats, bran, jowar, brown rice and whole wheat in your diet. As all these are loaded with fibre.

As vitamin B, C and D are important for maintaining good health, especially heart health. Eat more of beans, peas, lentils in your diet. Soybean is highly recommended as they reduce cholesterol and are rich in flavonoids, which reduce plaque in blood vessels. Spend some time in sunlight to get natural source of vitamin D. Eat citrus fruits and Indian goose beery for anti oxidative properties and vitamin C.Also add green tea in your daily routine as it limits the oxidative stress on your arteries. Use low fat diary products. At least 2-3 times in week eat omega 3 rich oily fish like sardines and cord to prevent harding of arteries. Stay away from red meat and oily non-vegetarian diet. Have cooked, sauteed, tandoori, baked non-veg food rather than fried one.

If vegetarian incorporate 1 tablespoon of seeds like pumpkin, sesame and flaxseed and add on nuts like almonds, walnuts, pine nuts and pistachios in your daily diet to get proper ratio of omega3 and omega 6 fatty acids and also to increase HDL. Garlic is known to reduce triglycerides have 2-3 pods daily. More than total fat type of oil also matters to keep heart ailments at bay. So use groundnut, ricebran oil, sunflower, canola oil in rotation with combination of mustard and olive oil , to get combination of good fats. In brief have healthy diet which as 2-3 servings of raw fruits and vegetables daily of different colours, have less and proper kind of oil. Have a diet, which has all the colours of rainbow.
Exercise to, lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. Maintain weight and lose weight if obese. Do meditation or yoga to destress. Lastly get annul check up done to maintain and foresee any health trouble.
